Sometimes life is hard: deadlines to meet, goals to meet, the pressure that never ends, people to help, always laughing when we’re hurt inside and then we go to bed without a single had a moment to ourselves.

What can we do when stress takes over our lives? Take a day off, if possible. Give yourself 24 hours and follow these tips to detox your body and mind. It is worth it!

Living with stress and tension for months can have adverse effects. It can result in health problems, in a body full of toxins, stress and a drained mind, where negative thoughts begin to overwhelm us, such as frustration and low self-esteem.

How do you know if you need to detox your body and mind?

Something we have to remember is that  man can have a lot. We can handle a lot of stress, for many months, without doing anything about it.

We tell ourselves that this pressure is normal and that we have to hold on, that it is better not to change anything. Until something finally happens: a drop in blood pressure, fainting or worse, a heart attack.

This is why we need to pay close attention to some of the symptoms that indicate that something is about to happen. Something is wrong. Pay attention:

  • insomnia
  • the need to be alone
  • headache every day, especially in the morning or just before going to bed
  • bad digestion
  • bad mood
  • allergies
  • weight gain or loss
  • extreme fatigue
  • fluid retention, swollen legs or abdomen
  • constipation or diarrhea
  • muscle strain

Instructions to detox your body and mind in one day

As we have said before, it  would be best if you can take a day off. You can also follow these guidelines on the weekend or on a weekday when you can take 24 hours for yourself.

We know it’s not always possible to be alone all day. Just keep in mind that those times when we are crossing our limits, our mental and physical health should be the priority and this is when these guidelines are extra helpful.

Morning Guidelines

Early in the morning

We need to make the most of the day, so it’s best to get up early.

Start the day with a glass of warm water with lemon,  as we have often recommended in our articles.

Take a warm shower and finish it with some cold water on your legs.

Then you eat a healthy, detoxifying breakfast. For this you need the following:

  • A glass of white tea which, as you know, is the best natural detoxifying agent.
  • A bowl of fruit with a piece of pineapple, five strawberries and a kiwi.
  • Toasted rye bread with olive oil.

What’s the next step to detox our body and mind?

We will walk for an hour,  if possible in an area with a lot of greenery: a park, in the mountains or wherever you can enjoy nature.

Walking at a brisk pace helps clear your head and makes your heart beat faster, removing toxins and improving your overall health.

Always bring a bottle of water and five raw almonds. They are ideal to give you energy and reduce stress.

Instructions for the afternoon and evening

It’s time to eat  and we continue with our detoxifying and cleansing diet. This is what you need to prepare:

  • A salad with:
    • Spinach
    • salad
    • arugula
    • pineapple
    • pomegranate seeds
  • An artichoke with a little olive oil and white vinegar.
  • Twenty minutes after eating, drink a glass of coconut water. It’s a great tonic.

After dinner you look for a quiet place where you are not bothered by disturbing noises and where you can sit, to give yourself some air and where you feel at ease.

It’s time to think about yourself and you’ll need a writing pad to answer the following questions:

  • Why don’t I feel happy now? What am I worried about?
  • What am I doing wrong? What am I doing that perpetuates my worries and unhappiness?
  • What changes can I make to feel happier in the future?
  • What can I do tomorrow to feel a little happier?
  • What dreams and desires do I have for myself?
  • What can I do to feel better?

Write it all down, analyze it and think about it.

End of the day instructions

Rest in a hammock

Do relaxation exercises  while listening to music and try to enjoy the here and now, with positive thoughts. You are good and you feel good.

For dinner, prepare the following:

  • Baked salmon with a little lemon juice.
  • Steamed Brussels sprouts, because they detoxify the liver.
  • Drink another glass of coconut water about twenty minutes after you eat.

After dinner, take a relaxing bath, then  prepare an infusion of lavender, lemon and honey before going to bed.

Take a good book to bed  and let go of all your worries. Become aware that from now on you will start to think more about yourself and make your life simpler, so that you will be happier.

Don’t hesitate to detoxify your body and mind any time you need it. You will feel much better.
