Preventing Age Spots With Four Home Remedies

Over time, our skin begins to change color and small round spots begin to appear, especially on our face and hands.
Prevent age spots with four home remedies

Fortunately, there are several home remedies that prevent age spots. In this article we will tell you all about it.

Age spots: a sign of aging

Unfortunately, it is not completely possible to prevent age spots. No one can stop the effect of time on our body.

These blemishes are one of the most common signs of aging and usually appear much earlier than other signs. These spots are larger than freckles and are darker and flatter. They mainly occur on:

  • hands
  • forehead
  • arms
  • Sight
  • Chest

While these blemishes don’t seriously affect your health, many people are still looking for a way to prevent them for beauty reasons.

The main cause of age spots is sun exposure.

While it is true that people need at least a few minutes of sun every day to get vitamin D, too much sun exposure can actually damage your skin.

Spending many hours outdoors, especially in the summer, damages the superficial layers of the skin, causing the skin to deteriorate faster.

Another factor that can contribute to the appearance of age spots is photosensitizing substances, for example present in some perfumes. This is because these substances can trigger an allergic reaction when exposed to sunlight.

Also, some people are simply genetically more predisposed to develop age spots.

Prevent age spots with these 4 tips

Age spot under eye

A lot of women (and some men too) worry about the stains on their hands and face when they have already formed.

However, it is important to take precautions in advance. That’s the only way age spots can have a chance.

We therefore recommend changing some habits to prevent the appearance of those brown spots, which are so unattractive to many.

1. Don’t expose yourself too much to the sun

It is very important to protect yourself from harmful UV rays to prevent skin damage.

When the sun is very hot (around noon for example), it causes the skin to get slightly burned. These burns then turn into age spots.

2. Use sunscreen

On sunny or hot days, we recommend using a sunscreen with at least SPF 30. You can also use sunscreen if your skin is too light or sensitive.

3. Wear the right clothes

In addition to being advised not to go out between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., we also recommend that when you do go outside, you wear clothes that cover at least the whitest parts of your body, such as your back.

4. Eat enough vegetables and fruit

Food is essential to keep us healthy both inside and out. We therefore recommend consuming natural fruit juices, salads, soups and other dishes that contain raw vegetables as much as possible.

Home remedies to reduce impurities

If the first age spots have already started appearing, as a result of sun exposure or ordinary skin aging, don’t get discouraged right away.

There are several natural remedies to reduce the visibility of these spots.

1. Chickpea Mask

This mask is very easy to make and the ingredients are available almost everywhere. We recommend using canned chickpeas so you don’t have to cook them for hours.

Ingredients

  • 150 grams of cooked chickpeas
  • ΒΌ cup water (60 ml)

Preparation

  • Wash the chickpeas and then put them in a bowl.
  • Then slowly pour the water over it. Then use a mortar and pestle to mash the chickpeas.
  • Once you have a smooth and even paste, apply this paste to the areas of the skin where you are prone to age spots. Make sure your skin is clean and dry beforehand.
  • Let the paste sit for twenty minutes, so that it can dry thoroughly.
  • Do not rinse the mask. Instead, let it dry and crumble off your face on its own.
  • Repeat this treatment every night.

2. Lemon juice

The high acid content of this fruit penetrates deeply into the skin, helping to make impurities less visible.

However, it is important to remember that you should only use this remedy in the evening, as exposure to the sun with lemon juice on your skin can cause negative reactions.

Apart from that, lemon juice is a great remedy for those first age spots.

  • All you have to do is cut a lemon in half and rub it over your face after you shower.
  • After a few minutes, rinse your skin with warm water.
  • If you don’t have lemons at home, you can also try it with red onion. This can provide the same result.

3. Dandelion

Dandelion against age spots

This plant is very effective in eliminating age spots.

The treatment is very simple:

  • Cut the stem of a dandelion horizontally to extract the moisture inside.
  • Then apply this moisture to the spots on your skin three times a day. Don’t rinse it off.
  • You can do the same with the gel from aloe vera leaves, a plant that can also be very useful to have around the house.

4. Apple cider vinegar

You probably have this ingredient in your kitchen cupboard. Apple cider vinegar has a similar effect to lemon because of its acidity.

By mixing apple cider vinegar with your usual hand cream (two parts cream and one part apple cider vinegar), you get a great home remedy for eliminating age spots.
